Sony has responded to the recent Microsoft price cut for Xbox One to £299 in the UK for the kinect less version .
Sony has dropped the price of there PS4 console to £299 till the 28th April 2015. It looks like they are testing to see if it makes another big effect on sales, if it does then we could see a permanent price drop worldwide announced at E3 we suspect.
Of course this is just for the standalone console no games just the console. Of note online seller Amazon are selling them at £289.99 as of today for the standard unit. But in both Black and White.
Xbox One also a standalone unit at £299 and again on amazon at £279.99 may seem good value. But many online retailers are offering the XOne with a game or even two for the same £299 price Point.
This has also seen Amazon reduce the price of their Wii U sets to £229.99. All of which come with a game being either Mario Kart 8 , Wind Waker (and yes it is the special edition Wii U in that Bundle) Super Mario pack.
Any of these above Wii U packs are only £229.99 on Amazon at present
I'm sure many will jump at the new £299 PS4 price point while it lasts or gets announced as permanent. But customers still have to buy a game , a extra controller for two player games and a PS+ memebership to play online.
Some of the XONE deals with games on other sites are quite good , i have seen preorders for XONE with Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight for £299 ,so that seems like a good deal. If there the type of games you want. Both are solo games ,but again any online play still needs a Xbox Gold membership at £39.99 a year.
I still think the Wii U bundles offer great value at the price point. and Nintendo's online UK store have a series of bundles for £299 which include two games and either a pro controller or Wii Mote Plus and other aceesories included. So it's worth checking the store out for some great deals.
