''Be Your Inner Hero''

                    Anyone for Baseball?

Japanese schlock -fest Deadball is anther of those over the top Films from Japan that go all out to shock while trying to tell a completely ridiculous story.

And you know what ? That's just how we like these type of films, but what's surprising about this film is the production value is quite high compared to many others from the same genre.

When young Jubeh Yaku is playing pitching the ball with his father he discovers that his pitching arm possesses extra human powers ,as he goes to pitch to his father the term fast ball takes on new meaning when he propels himself into the clouds to pitch the ball , which he sends back at a alarming rate ,and on fire.

Hitting his father clean in the head and basically killing him ( but not before the old man tells him it was a good pitch) , this has a adverse effect on him and his younger adopted brother Musashi.

Time passes and Jubeh who has lost touch with his brother finds himself in trouble with the law after he goes on a killing spree with his baseball ( killing many lowlifes in the process) , he finds himself imprisoned at Pterodactyl Juvenile Reformatory until his trial date.

The Governor Mifune has for Jubeh and on arrival at the reformatory the warden , Ishihara who just happens to be a Nazi ( her grandfather was WWII Nazi collaborator ) , Ishihara organises the prison Baseball team and arranges matches with other prisons, Jubeh also finds out that Musashi was a inmate to (after he went crazy and attacked loads of people to) but later died.

Deadball is one crazy film with some quite horrible scenes of Cavity searches and the prisoners being served some nasty breakfast ( I let you find out ) , but the main part of the story surrounds the baseball match, the team has to play against a all girl team by the name of the Black Dahlia High School team. They just happen to be a team of lunatic killers.

In a match where the prisoners destiny is to die a gruesome death at the hands of some scantily dressed Bimbo . It will be up to Jubeh to foil the plan and get revenge for his fellow inmates for all the hardships they have been put through.

But Ishihara has a super weapon up her sleeve ( and you thought I was going to say Bum ) It may be time for Jubeh to face his past and pitch for his life.

I really enjoyed this film with it's crazy premise ,the effects where very effective and definitely got the desired reaction .

It may not be up there with the likes of ''Mutant Girls Squad '' or Helldriver but if you like your films gross, gory and full of action then this might be for you.
